Health Tech Alley: Shaping the Workforce of Tomorrow

Health Tech Alley

Health Tech Alley, a proud Maryland Innovation Center (MIC) Resident, is thrilled to announce the launch of its apprenticeship program, a pivotal initiative aimed at developing the workforce of the future. As an Employer for the Maryland Apprenticeship Program, Health Tech Alley is leading the way in offering five high school seniors a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Business Analytics and Data Science.

The Impact of Apprenticeships

Apprenticeship programs are crucial for bridging the gap between education and industry. They provide young professionals with practical, real-world experience while pursuing their academic goals, ultimately equipping them with industry-recognized credentials and valuable skills. For employers, apprenticeships offer a chance to cultivate a skilled workforce that meets the evolving demands of the industry, while also contributing to the professional development of the next generation.

Health Tech Alleyโ€™s Commitment

Starting in August 2024 and running through May 2025, Health Tech Alley has selected five high school seniors from Oakland Mills, Glenelg, Reservoir and Mt. Hebron to participate in this groundbreaking program. The apprentices will embark on a comprehensive journey, focusing on Business Analytics and Data Science through two adjacent tracks. They will work 20 hours per week, with onsite shifts from 9-1 or 12-4, depending on their class schedules and a flexible Friday offsite.

Program Highlights

  • Industry-Recognized Credentials: Apprentices will gain credentials from Google and Microsoft, ensuring they are equipped with valuable skills recognized across the tech industry.
  • Work-Based Learning Activities: The program includes diverse learning experiences in Business, Data, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Digital Marketing, E-Commerce and Community Health.
  • Onsite Mentor-Coaches: Each apprentice will benefit from dedicated mentor-coaches, providing guidance and support throughout their journey.
  • Research Projects: Apprentices will engage in cutting-edge research, exploring areas such as Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Prompt Engineering and Large Language Models (LLMs).

Collaborating with the Maryland Innovation Center

Looking Ahead

Health Tech Alley is eager to see the apprentices develop their skills and make meaningful contributions to the organization and the broader community. By investing in the professional development of high school students, Health Tech Alley is not only contributing to their personal growth but also building a foundation for a skilled, dynamic workforce.

Health Tech Alley looks forward to the apprenticesโ€™ progress and achievements as they embark on this new chapter.
